Please Don't Think We are Flighty

Sunny Creek Farm

Our logo is a work in progress and a labor of love by our wonderful sister, Sandra who is a huge help to us and a big part of all we do.

Couldn't Help Myself

AS02 Asparagus Argenteuil  Asparagus Argenteuil

I just bought seeds to start this gorgeous, French heirloom asparagus.  Look for it at the markets in a few years.

A Peek at the First Planting

Yup!  Those are Early Violet Fava Beans!

Farm Day

I love days that I get to be at the farm all day surrounded by 4 generations of my family and with our friends/associates swinging by to perform services, lend a hand or tool or just to say "hi" and exchange ideas.  No matter how physically demanding the work may be, these days refresh my soul.

The Growing List

Scorzonera Hispanica
(black salsify or Spanish salsify, also known as black oyster plant, serpent root, viper's herb, viper's grass or Scorzonera) A root vegetable that has a mild oyster flavor.

Mantanghong Radish
How gorgeous are these Oriental radishes??? White on the outside and a deep purplish-pink on the inside...  We were looking at heirloom seeds, but couldn't resist this beautiful hybrid.  Fun fact:  1/3 of these roots grow above ground.

Agretti
(also called Roscano, Saltwort, or Barba dif rate) The flavor of this Italian green has been described as a livier, more vibrant version of spinach.  Research tells us it grows well in marshy area, so plant on the creek bank?

Mosiac Asparagus Bean
These beans have sweet, tender pods that can be stir-fried, steamed, deep-fried or added to soup. A native of Southern China.

Hinona Kabu Turnip
These funky turnips resemble a big French Breakfast Radish.  The flavor is mild.

 Tiger Melon!
Boldly colored and personal sized.  Seeds were purchased from another local farm Red Rosa Farm in Spencer, IN.
